Flower of the Sun
One of my all time favourite herbs for the skin, the magic and powerful Calendula Officinalis.
More commonly known as Calendula or Pot Marigold, Calendula has been used since Ancient Greek and Roman time as a medicinal herb for the skin and may be used safely wherever there is any inflammation. Calendula has anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and is therefore useful in healing wounds and skin irritations. Herbal and Holistic Healers have long used Calendula as a substitute for antibiotics and topical steroids to calm conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Calendula will combat redness and soothe angry skin.
For those with pesky breakouts Calendula will speed up the healing process of any blemishes and repair the skin while the anti-microbial properties will fight the bacteria that cause them.
Calendula is also wonderful to add to the anti-ageing regime, this beautiful golden flower packs a powerful punch with its potent antioxidants including flavonoids, polyphenols, carotenoids, vitamin A, C and E. Calendula encourages collagen production and increases the skins ability to retain water resulting in firmer, smoother, hydrated and more even-toned skin. It also works wonders for under eye puffiness as well.
Whatever skin issue, Calendula is the essential ingredient to repair and rejuvenate the skin. We have a range of products containing this superstar skincare ingredient.
